To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ understand the lyrics of “Man’s Not Hot.” The metaphorical context of the lyrics is extremely subtle and without a deep understanding of theoretical and quantum physics, one can find themselves lost in translation. And then, there’s Big Shaq’s nihilistic outlook on life, which is in part due to his tough upbringing in the heart of London. The refrain of the song, starting with the immortal words “the ting goes skraa” may sound like gibberish to less adept listener, far is more sophisticated than it may seem. It is actually derived from excerpts of unused material from Leo Tolstoy’s immortal 1869 masterwork of 19th century fiction “War and Peace”. I pity those who brush it off as mere “trapstongue” and wish them all the best on their path to enlightenment. Big Shaq will transcend alongside Lil Pump as the greatest poets of the 21st century.
